BudgetDuck (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personal accounting app that helps UK users track income and expenses, categorise transactions, connect bank accounts, and prepare tax figures. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and an encrypted password so you can sign in and secure your account.
• Financial data you provide — transactions, categories, receipts, notes, and tax-related figures that you enter or import.
• Connected bank data — if you choose to link a bank via our Open Banking provider (TrueLayer), we access read-only account and transaction information you authorise. We never see or store your online banking credentials.
• Usage & device data — basic technical logs (app version, error diagnostics) used to keep the service working reliably.

How we use your information

• To provide core app functionality — storing, categorising and displaying your finances and generating reports.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To improve reliability and fix issues.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Data sharing

We share data only with service providers that make the app work — our secure cloud hosting, our database, and our Open Banking provider (TrueLayer) when you connect a bank. These providers process data on our behalf under contract.

Data security & retention

Sensitive data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Bank access tokens are stored encrypted. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time by deleting your account or contacting us.
